Just shortly after the release of the 2021 EP „Crooked Bogs & Ghastly Swamps“ Vendul began
working on a new album, since the EP couldn’t be promoted live on stage due to the ongoin COVID-
19 pandemic.

The pent-up creative energy needed to be discharged into something else and so Kauzer started to
create the first riffs and collect the first ideas for new songs. After the restrictions that were caused
by the pandemic ended, the creativity could finally be channelled by all band members together at
their rehearsal room Prowo. Around this time we and our friend Petrosz Zwakkel were also able to
bring the additional keys as well as the Intro and Outro into being.
Heavily influenced by many different styles, a heterogeneous collection of riffs and songs needed to
be tamed. Scabious and primitive Punk riffs danced with melodic Black Metal soundscapes to gloomy

Dark Wave sounds in the basement of an old fragmented castle. Despite the different soundspheres,
Kauzer and Jenso were able to craft a unique and coherent musical experience while recording the
first demo songs in 2023.

It was around this time aswell that the first lyrics, written by Muck and Kauzer, were put into shape.
On CASTLE CURTAINS approaches different subjects of Folk Horror such as demons, the living dead and the unspeakable evil. The constant feeling of being haunted gives the listeners a shiver.
CASTLE CURTAINS contains a vigorous and relentless mixture that pays tribute to the old style,
without copying it’s formula or forfeit individuality. Cold, murky Black Metal blends with raw, mangy
melodies of Neo Crust and the attitude of Punk – recently referred to as New Wave of Heavy Metal
Punk by a promoter. An important part of this experience is the sound which was mixed and
mastered by the fantastic Scumlight Studio.
CASTLE CURTAINS is released on October 10th, 2025 on tape, vinyl LP and digitally via
CRAWLING CHAOS. We would like to thank Holger for the trust as well as for the prolific
collaboration so far and all the work he’s put in!

Making heads turn since 2016 with the old school yet progressive cosmic death metal exposed in their demos, EPs and split with Undeath and Into Coffin, Italy’s Devoid Of Thought released their 40 minutes debut full-length album Outer World Graves via Everlasting Spew Records in 2021. Combining influences from bands like Timeghoul, Blood Incantation, Voivod and Incantation in a unique, bizarre and twisted vortex, the Italian quartet is now ready to celebrate its tenth year of existence with their sophomore studio record, self-titled Devoid Of Thought.

From outer world graves, where stars go to die and the effigies of distant planets are found, the portal has now opened toward a quantum leap, placed at the incipit of the end. The panspermic biodome is a colorful multiverse, awash in stellar life and boiling with transformation. Time here represents an entropic euphoria and is no longer a mortal clock. From a putrescent mire, a new form of life is born, endowed with an unprecedented shell, different from that of any known species. Consciousness is now ready to cross the cosmos once again and navigate through oblivion, until returning to a new beginning, in order to experience itself into many forms.

This recording captures the band’s stunning performance at Roadburn Festival 2023 in Tilburg, Netherlands, delivering an immersive document of one of the most visceral and cerebral showcases in contemporary extreme metal.

Recorded live on April 22, 2023, Live at Roadburn immerses listeners into Ad Nauseam’s intricately brutal universe: razor‑sharp riffs, labyrinthine song structures, relentless tempo shifts, and dissonant harmonic explorations framed within a transcendent live context. With their sophomore album Imperative Imperceptible Impulse, Ad Nauseam took a step forward in terms of composition, musical structures and sound. Music is not intended as a mere sequence of riffs that sounds well one after the other, but is now a naturally ordered structure where almost every musical event refers to the past and/or predicts the future, generating very layered and complex patterns dominated by polyphony and polyrhythms and where each instrument has its own role and is essential in the whole. The music represents a merging of many different styles, the most prominent ones being extreme death/black metal, avantgarde, jazz, post-core, doom/sludge and ambient.

The composition process of Imperative Imperceptible Impulse has been heavily influenced by 20th century classical composers like Stravinsky, Šostakóvič, Xenakis, Scelsi, Penderecki and Ligeti, to name a few. Both the concepts of harmony and melody have been put into discussion to get a music where harmony is obtained by means of disharmony and melody by dissonances. To push this method even further, a unique tuning system has been conceived, to allow a new harmonic vocabulary and to eradicate the players from the comfort zone of the usual melodic patterns every guitar/bass player is used to.

Ad Nauseam takes a step back from the synthetic, flat and fake sound of modern production trends, going in the opposite direction, again adopting the same principles that are used to record classical music: less is more.
An extreme effort has been put to find a way to record the most natural, dynamic and tridimensional sound possible. For this reason, instead of focusing on the mixing and post-production phase, an insane amount of attention has been paid studying how to capture the best sound since the very beginning. The maniacal assembly and calibration of the audio chain allowed to nearly eliminate the use of equalizers and dynamic compressors. Saying it with Steve Albini: „I want to hear the sound of the instrument, not the sound of the processor“.
